Film References

ALIEN 3

'Alien 3'  is a 1992 science fiction film, and the debut of director David Fincher. It is the third instalment in the Alien franchise, and the second sequel to Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien. Continuing after the events in Aliens (1986), the ejected pod from Colonial Marine spaceship Sulaco crash-lands on a prison-run refinery planet, killing everyone aboard except Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver). Unknown to Ripley, an Alien egg was aboard the ship. The Alien is born inside the prison and begins a killing spree.

After watching this film I felt I could reference it to my theme 'humans can lick too' based on the scene shown in the trailer above when the Alien's face it close up to the actress. This is a moment of pure fear as the Alien breaths its breath onto her face as a further mouth appears from inside it's first mouth!

Throughout my music video I want my looks to give off the same tension and suspense as we see in this film. In order to do this I need to find poses for my models to use during the shoot in order to feel how they're meant to feel during the video.

LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS

Lesbian Vampire Killers is a 2009 British comedy horror film written by Stewart Williams and Paul Hupfield, produced by Steve Clark-Hall and directed by Phil Claydon.
After several years in development hell, the project was picked up by director Phil Claydon. Claydon describes the film as influenced by Ghostbusters with a mix of Hammer Horror and Universal's monster movies. Referring to the special effects used in the film he said "I covered James in vampire gunk at every opportunity because that made me laugh", since the Vampires turn into slime rather than dust or bursting into flames like other vampire stories.

It is set in Norfolk, based around the village of Cranwich which is portrayed in the film as Cragwich, but was filmed outside London on location at Luton Hoo and in Three Mills film studios in Bromley-by-Bow. The film is a tongue-in-cheek homage to the classic Hammer Horror films and was originally slated to be the first "new" Hammer film. This did not come to pass and it was ultimately Alliance and Momentum Pictures along with AV Films who finally green lit the project.

The way that the vampires in this film have been labelled as 'lesbian vampires' shows humour, but also makes the film sound as though it could have sexual scenes as it is made clear and bold in the film title. I have chosen to reference this film as I want to base my first look on creepy role with a sexy twang. As I want to add a wound on my victim models hand I want this to be from the killer attacking the hand once the victim realises that it's in fact not his dog that is licking his hand.

BLACK SWAN

Black Swan is a 2010 American psychological thriller and horror film directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Mila Kunis. The plot revolves around a production of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet by a prestigious New York City company. The production requires a ballerina to play the innocent and fragile White Swan, for which the committed dancer Nina (Portman) is a perfect fit, as well as the dark and sensual Black Swan, which are qualities embodied by the new arrival Lily (Kunis). Nina is overwhelmed by a feeling of immense pressure when she finds herself competing for the part, causing her to lose her tenuous grip on reality and descend into a living nightmare.

I have referenced this film purely because of the make-up used throughout the film for the final show. I like how the main focus is on the outside of the eyes with the black and white feathery pattern. This looks effective the way that it seems the white sections between the black looks as though its highlighted in the light. I think that this make-up will look good for my first look (the killer) as I want to make the make-up quite dark to give an edgy, sexy vibe.

TWIGHLIGHT

Twilight is a series of four vampire-themed fantasy romance novels by American author Stephanie Meyer. It charts a period in the life of Isabella "Bella" Swan, a teenage girl who moves to Forks, Washington, and falls in love with a 104-year-old vampire named Edward Cullen. The series is told primarily from Bella's point of view, with the epilogue of Eclipse and Part II of Breaking Dawn being told from the viewpoint of character Jacob Black, a werewolf.

I think that Twilight is a good film reference as the vampires in the film aren't made to look scary or evil, but instead beautiful, friendly characters.

Not only does this film reference the killer for my shoot, but also the victim. The make-up created in Twilight is similar to how I am planning the make-up for my victim shoot. I want a pale face, dark circles around the eyes to make them seem sore, and also the hair of Edward (one of the characters in twilight) is how I have planned my look.
